Buying a car with Carvana Part 2

Carvana let me down delaying delivery 5 times. I ended up cancelling the order while purchasing a car at a dealership.

It's been a while since the last post, and a few months ago we were looking to replace our van with another vehicle. We settled on a Mitsubishi Outlander on Carvana and went through the process to get it in 3 days.

A day before it was supposed to arrive it got delayed. Then again. Then again. They eventually had someone reach out to do damage control. I was quite irritated and said told them "we both know I am never going to get this car". They claimed it was a transportation issue.

They ended up delaying delivery 5 times. During this time I had to travel for work so it wasn't a big deal and not worth the frustration.

Timeline

Jan 22 - Carvana acknowledges they received the order and it will be delivered on Jan 25.
Jan 24 - Text from Carvana at 8:03am that it will be delivered tomorrow.
Jan 24 - Text from Carvana at 4:09pm that it is rescheduled to Jan 28. I pushed it to Jan 29.
Jan 25 - Text from Carvana they rescheduled for Feb 11.
Feb 9 - Text from Carvana they rescheduled for Feb 25. I moved to Feb 3 as I am out of town
Feb 13 - Text from Carvana they can't move forward with the purchase.. Then another text it is rescheduled for Mar 12.

As we moved into March I got a flyer from a Daytona Mitsubishi dealer for 0% financing. I reached out asking for numbers. They responded right away to setup an appointment to meet in the office. I declined and just asked for numbers to see if it was doable. If the numbers don't work for us, they just don't. The dealer ignored me, even after I sent a follow up.

All hope was lost and I sent another dealer in Melbourne a message. They called, clarified some details, and within 15 minutes I had all the numbers, and a custom video of the car on the lot. We drove down to the dealer, test drove the car and decided to purchase the car. Thankfully the guy we were dealing with was also the 'finance office' so we didn't get handed off. All the numbers matched what he sent me. I think we spent 2 hours at the dealership including test drive time.

Maybe I use Carvana again, I don't know. I vowed to never set foot in a dealership again but then I did and it wasn't bad.
